A taste, reimagined.
Prahna opened in 2020 on St John's Road, Corstorphine, with a single principle: that Indian food in Edinburgh deserved a quieter, more considered room than the city was used to.
Realise your true nature with Prahna.
The word prahna translates from Sanskrit as breath, the first signal of life. We chose it because we wanted a name that pointed at restraint, and at the simple act of pausing for a meal. Our beautiful blossom tree above the dining room signals renewal, our peacock motif signals pride in produce sourced close to the city: Newhaven cod, Borders lamb, west coast langoustine, St Andrews bay salmon.
The dark wood, the gold script, the warm clay walls. Each choice reaches in the same direction. Less heat for show. More flavour for the plate. More space for the meal to breathe.
Awards on the wall, votes from the room.

A meal for a neighbour, every week.
Three meals a week, sent to three households within three miles of the front door. That is the whole programme. We started it in our second year on St John's Road and have not missed a week since.
The meals go to older residents living alone, families having a hard month, and the firefighters at the Stenhouse station up the road. They are full meals, not samples, packed in re-usable boxes that come back with the next round.
We do not put a logo on the boxes. We do not photograph the deliveries. The whole thing is meant to be quiet. If you would like to nominate a household for next week, write to info@pranaindiangrill.co.uk with a short note about who and where. We read every email and aim to respond within three working days.
